Redbubble 2020 Quotes for T-shirt Designs
Recently, I’ve been absorbing a lot of YouTube videos on text-based designs used on T-shirt Designs. I have compiled the 8 fonts that are most likely to result in consistent sales for your T-shirts and other merchandise.
But I don’t think you should be buying individual fonts unless it’s for branding purposes. Instead you should access the wide selection of fonts at either Placeit or Canva which I have provided examples below.
How profitable are text-based designs?
Whether you’re on RedBubble, Etsy or Merch on Amazon, text-based designs dominate the best sellers. And if they are not purely text-based, they make up a substantial portion of the design. I would say half of Redbubble’s bestsellers are text based. One person who is regularly featured in the bestsellers only uses phrases but you can bet they are making bank off them with minimal effort. The fact is people love funny statements, witty comments and deeply appreciate sarcastic phrases. If you can provide a piece of text that communicates their passions, mood or personality to everyone around them, they will pay for that privilege. Human beings are social animals always looking to connect with others around them.
What are the downsides of text-based designs?
Any design that is easy to make, is easy to copy. A lot of the successful Print-on-Demand sellers across the main platforms use certain tools to spot trending designs. If your design which is a simple phrase starts to perform well, you can guarantee it will be replicated in some way. In the short term, you will generate sales given your head start and the platform’s algorithms will prioritise but eventually newcomers will improve your concept and give potential customer alternative options.
Given the nature of Print on Demand, sellers copying your work shouldn’t deter you. It’s unfortunately part of the game and is something we all have to deal with.
